The Waterford Camino experience blends beautiful trails, a little adventure and some reflective ‘time-out’ that will inspire you on your path in life. Covering vast distances to reach our destination is not what our Camino is about. The point of the journey is the steps in between and making time for chats, stillness and some spiritual compass points along the way.

Every day on the Waterford Camino, you can expect something totally different to what has gone before; a mountain trail one day, an old coastal pilgrim path another, a cliff walk, an Irish Tapas experience of wine, story and song in a 13th Century Choristers’ Hall, even a cycle on the Waterford Greenway or a walk around the mystical lakes of Glendalough. Our Camino in Ireland’s South East draws us into our Christian past as we re-trace the steps of those who have gone before.

The Camino has a strong historical resonance in Waterford dating back to St. Declan’s walk from Ardmore to Cashel in the 5th Century, some 400 years before the first pilgrims trekked across the Camino de Santiago in Spain. In the late 1400s, Mayor James Rice led 2 epic voyages to Spain to join pilgrims en route to Santiago. Waterford Camino Tours is building on this proud heritage and is inviting visitors from near and far to walk in the footsteps of our ancestors in this unique corner of Ireland’s Ancient East.
