DAFT: Doneraile Arts Fest is run by Art for the Heart, a group consisting of several artists and people from all walks of life in and around Doneraile. In 2020, it will run from the 2nd to 5th of July and include workshops for all levels and ages.
In 2018, as part of Culture Night a small group facilitated the “How Great Thou Art” exhibition in St. Mary’s Church in Doneraile. As a result of the positive feedback, we wondered how we could harness this enthusiasm and creativity. We felt that a visual art festival was an obvious way to expand. ‘Art for the Heart’ was formed soon after, made up of several artists and those interested in supporting the cause. It will feature approximately 15 workshops, including portraiture, watercolours, Plein air, children’s events, teens workshops, and wellness art..Going into our second year of DAFT, we hope that the community continues to seize the opportunity to experiment with art and explore your own creativity, alongside non-artists, amateurs and professionals alike. If you have never painted, drawn or coloured before there is a workshop for you.While our main emphasis is on creativity, we also hope that we will encourage others to visit and enjoy Doneraile, come to our shops and cafés and experience this beautiful town. We hope that you will all have a positive experience and that we can support each other in this and in other artistic endeavours.
