Step into the Sunny South East

The Knockmealdown Mountain region offers a host of walking and hiking trails across South Tipperary and Waterford. There’s something for everyone, from challenging treks to scenic strolls. Keep an eye on for more information on upcoming activities and events.

The Copper Coast

Take advantage of the beautiful beaches in Waterford’s Copper Coast. Stroll hand-in-hand on the sandy walkways of Bunmahon Beach and Clonea Strand. Breathe in the refreshing sea air and relax listening to the waves break.

Continue to the delightful town of Dungarvan, 10km from Clonea. Enjoy great food and a spot of shopping. Grab a coffee from Starbucks or enjoy a hearty lunch in the Gourmet House, lovely staff and great options for restricted dietary needs.

St. Declan’s Way

In the heart of the Knockmealdowns hikers will join St. Declan’s Way. The ancient path runs from the Rock of Cashel in Tipperary to the Cliffs of Ardmore in Waterford, where St. Declan first established a monastery during the 5th century. Over the centuries millions of pilgrims, warriors and adventurers have walked along these ancient roads. Visit to map out a route and view suggested accommodation options through the course of your pilgrimage.

The Greenway

Witness the glorious views from the Greenway, a 46km off-road cycling and walking trail along an old railway line between Waterford City and Dungarvan. Take in the beautiful scenery from the top of the tall viaducts. Bikes are available for hire, see for more.

Make a pitstop in Kilmacthomas and recharge in the Coach House. Unwind with a great cup of coffee and enjoy a delicious meal. A day well spent in the sunny South East.
