Slievereagh Loop
- Minor Roads
- Narrow Walking Paths
- Forest Roads
- Water Fountain in Kilfinane, Co. Limerick
Starting at Ballyhoura Tourist Office in Kilfinane, Slievereagh stands alone to the northeast of the Ballyhoura mountains.
Its slopes are crisscrossed by several forestry tracks and the Ballyhoura Way crosses on its way from Kilfinane to Ballylanders, just to the south of the pinnacle summit.
The walk itself leaves the village of Kilfinane on quiet country roads initially where the trail then heads into a lovely, peaceful mature forest. There is a meadow in the middle of the forest with old standing stones before you dive back into the depths of the forest to cross a small stream.
Once out of the forest the trail follows forestry roads for a while passing Lazy Dog Shooting (clay pigeon shooting) which you will see on your right. The trail turns off the main forestry road soon after this and the walker is welcomed by views of the Ballyhoura region in front of them. The trail continues on a grassy path until it emerges onto the Ballylanders/Kilfinane road for the short stroll back to the village.
