Cahir Castle

Cahir Castle is widely known as one of Ireland’s largest and best-preserved castles. Dating back to the 13th century, the castle was built for the reputable Butler Family. Perfectly positioned in the heart of the town overlooking the River Suir. An imposing 13th-15th Century structure, Cahir Castle was skilfully designed by Conor O’Brien to be a state-of-the-art defensive castle. Appearing to grow from the actual rock on which it stands, the castle has been the scene of sieges and bombardments for centuries.
The powerful Anglo-Norman family, the Butlers, came into the possession of the castle in 1375.

Glen of Aherlow

North of the Galtees lies the Glen of Aherlow, one Ireland’s most beautiful lush valleys nestled between Limerick and Tipperary. The Statue of the Christ King raises his hand “blessing the Glen and all who pass by”, originally erected in the mid-1900s. This friendly welcome extends to the Glen locals that share the same hospitable nature.
